Our Managing Partners

Sound's complementary leadership structure ensures expert oversight in every functional area. And a combined 45 years of industry experience—including over 80 brands and 40 launches—makes this one formidable team.

Nick Rhodin

Managing Partner, Director of Strategic Planning

Nick is devoted to discovering and leveraging core customer insights to drive brand strategy development. His areas of expertise include in-depth customer immersion, market research moderation, workshop facilitation, and competitive intelligence. Affectionately labeled “Nickipedia,” Nick is known for his encyclopedic knowledge of case studies. He has proven particularly adept at synthesizing mountains of data to find the gems that matter.

Nick’s 10+ year pharmaceutical career has provided him with a 360-degree perspective of the industry—from bench-side science, to consulting, commercial-side market research, and now, the agency world. Prior to founding Sound Healthcare Communications, Nick worked for 6 years at FCB Health, where he most recently served as the head of Strategic Planning at Area 23, working on a breadth of disease states and drug classes. Prior to his time at FCB Health, Nick worked at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals for 4 years, overseeing market research for the women’s healthcare and new business divisions.

Nick holds a BS in Biochemistry/Cell Biology from Bucknell and has completed graduate work in the field of Public Health. When Nick isn’t busy probing the psyches of target physicians, he enjoys running in NYC with his wife, Shelly.

Ryan Perkins

Managing Partner, Director of Client Services

Ryan brings a deep perspective to his client’s business, gained from a wealth of experience in both professional and DTC advertising across numerous therapeutic categories. Prior to founding Sound Healthcare Communications, Ryan was at FCB Health for a decade where he most recently oversaw the US and global business for AbbVie HCV as SVP, Management Supervisor.

Ryan’s extensive launch experience includes time as an Associate Product Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim where he managed every aspect of a product launch—from global and domestic professional advertising to consumer advertising and managed care. Exposure to both sides of the business in multiple disease states has given him a rich understanding of both the specialty and primary care markets.

Born and raised in New York, Ryan graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Marketing. When he isn’t working, Ryan enjoys golf, playing softball, and coaching baseball for youth teams in his community. Ryan also serves as a guest lecturer at St. John’s University and Wagner College, educating students on the world of marketing and advertising.

Jeff Hack

Managing Partner, Creative Director

Believing that music sits at the crossroads between art and science serves Jeff well in his role as Managing Director, Creative. That’s because his ultimate goal is to make music out of clinical data. After spending 10 years as a professional musician, Jeff rechanneled his creative energy and combined it with his longtime interest in science (he was a member of his high school biology team) when he began his career in pharmaceuticals at Johnson & Johnson’s Ortho Biotech. Although the experience of working in both sales and marketing was invaluable, Jeff eventually realized his skills were better suited for the agency side of the business.

Jeff’s work has garnered dozens of awards throughout his career, including Mannys, MM&Ms, Clios, Globals, and RxClub Awards. He has experience both building and launching brands in multiple therapeutic categories at a number of major agencies across the industry. Prior to founding Sound Healthcare Communications, Jeff most recently served as SVP, Creative Director at FCB Health’s Area 23.

Jeff was born and raised in New Jersey and has a degree in English Literature from Rutgers University. When he isn’t busy rooting for his Scarlet Knights, Jeff can be found fishing with his sons, Devin and Wesley, or listening to music (of course) and sipping fine wine with his college sweetheart and now wife, Alison.
