VP/SVP – Medical Director

Successful candidate will be responsible for providing both the strategic direction and the hands-on development of exceptionally high-quality medical and scientific content across multiple therapeutic areas. Leading the medical strategy department, you will serve as the medical and scientific information source for account team and related clients. Responsibilities include, but not limited to assuring that all projects are medically and scientifically accurate, and that the recommended communication and education strategies are clinically sound.

Roles and Responsibility:

  • VP/SVP, Medical Director assumes the responsibility for understanding the scientific and clinical aspects of their assigned businesses in depth and serve as a key strategic resource for both internal teams and clients. The main job is to partner with strategic planners, copywriters, and client-side medical directors to help shape the medical strategy of the brand and ensure medical accuracy with all creative content generated by the agency.
  • Monitor and identify relevant literature and craft marketing implications for the brand
  • Facilitation of proprietary agency offerings including workshops. Moderation of primary market research including in-depth interviews with key opinion leaders and community physicians
  • Development of medical 101s, partner with strategy planners on the development of category and customer immersions, construction of communication platform and messaging, contribution to the development of pitch strategy and narrative

Knowledge/Expertise:

  • Consistently monitor and develop depth of understanding for assigned brands, related medical areas, and competitors
  • Critically review content developed by copywriters, strategic planners and other staff
  • Specific experience in respiratory, rare disease, hematology oncology a plus

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Doctoral degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD)
  • 3-5 years of experience working for an advertising (desired), medical education agency.
  • Ability to present clinical data in a clear, concise, storytelling manner
  • Excellent communication, analytical and interpretive skills
  • Understanding of marketing strategy principles
  • Establish rapport with client and manage medically-related client-meetings
  •  Work onsite in Bridgewater, NJ 4 days a week (Friday is a flexible WFH day)
  • 15-20% travel, including international travel to Europe

Senior Strategic Planner

Successful candidate will function as the day-to-day practitioner, and keeper of the agency’s strategic philosophy. Senior Strategic Planners are valued partners of both account and creative leadership and are the voice of strategy on a client’s business. Roles and Responsibility:

  • This role is mid-level role within the department of strategic planning
  • The planner will play a 50/50 lead and support role on client-facing business
  • Handle multiple work streams while inspiring and codifying the big idea for each client
  • Primary and secondary market research and insight discovery
  • Secondary competitive intelligence and promotional analysis
  • Development of foundational brand strategy, including, but not limited to brand positioning, communication platform, messaging, and creative brief development

Knowledge/Expertise:

  • Specific experience in respiratory, rare disease, hematology oncology a plus

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • BA/BS is required (marketing, psychology, or the sciences – biology, chemistry, physicians is strongly preferred).
  • 3-5 years of post-undergraduate employment, preferably in advertising, marketing, management consulting, or the sciences.
  • Strong analytical thinking, writing, presentation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze mountains of data to find the gems that matter and then have the presence to capture and hold a room with their insight.

  • Write, proof and edit a broad range of communication/marketing materials utilizing a keen eye for detail and quality of content, as well as an understanding the visual expression of the ideas
  • Collaborate with team members to create novel, unique work in a variety of media for a range of audiences for a variety of channels and platforms
  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of assigned brands, indications, therapeutic categories, and overall marketplace and is responsible for being current with client brands and their competition
  • Build client relationships by participating in market research, presenting creative internally and externally, and contribute to strategic and tactical development
  • Help drive and improve the creative process at the agency, including leading agency and creative team initiatives as appropriate
  • Contribute to new business opportunities as required

Some required skills/qualifications:

Successful candidate will be responsible for daily operations of assigned brands – brainstorming ideas, developing concepts and specific messaging, while overseeing junior members of the copy team. The Group Copy Supervisor (GCS) works closely with creative and account teams, dedicated to creating work aligned with client’s marketing strategies and objectives, within specified deadlines. The GCS must possess stellar conceptual and copywriting skills, knowledge of pharmaceutical requirements/terminology, along with the ability to present ideas and represent the agency.
